- Bob Greene is a journalist and Maine historian. In 1969, while writing sports for the Associated Press in Milwaukee, Bob Greene covered a tennis tournament that came to town which happened to be the launch of professional tennis. In 1980, he was named the Associated Press tennis writer and started covering all the major events, including the French Open and Wimbledon. His job as a sports journalist allowed him the opportunity to travel the world and meet tennis greats such as Arthur Ashe, John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl, Marina Navratilova, and Chris Evert.
